Haulin' @$$ for the Cure

So as of last Monday, my foot/ankle started hurting me.   I'm not sure what it is, but Dr. J Hunt says its probably just some sort of tendonitis.  In a 10 second diagnosis, he said I could run in the race on Saturday, that it wouldn't kill me, and I took that as permission to make my foot hurt for the following week as well.

It still hurts.

The good news though is that I finished the race in a little over 23 minutes, and beat everyone I knew except Jon Scott.  I blame his lengthy frame. ;)  It feels good to run in events.  I don't know that I really like the daily runs as much as the ones where I'm being driven by some purpose.

Me about a mile and a half into it.               This is me just in front of Carl and then us collapsing together afterwards.  Awww.

A super cool pic from Saturday night.

In other news, the aforementioned baby birds have died. They were really getting cute.  They had started to grow feathers on their wings and everything.   I think the mother just abandoned them after being scared by Abby a couple times. :(

My annual review happens on Monday, and I hope it goes well.  This means my raise should come in the next 2 weeks as well.   That will be nice... or it better be nicer than last year ( I got the minimum raise.)

He's going to kill you for calling him lanky.  You should probably hide.
Other than that, I'm proud of you for running the race. :)

good luck with the raise!  my review is coming up soon, as well.  we have a crazy process that takes 3 months to complete.

"Lengthy frame"--ha! That's a new one. Lengthy frame, lanky, and especially lean--those are all right by me. It was good to run with you on Saturday, Bob, and just see you really. See you in Minneapolis in but 159 days!

I don't dig the daily (or periodic) runs either; there's something about the thrill of sport, of competition, that gets me going when other competitors are around me. I feel like we're a pack of white-tailed (or maybe pink-tailed) deer running from a hunter or something, that we all just have to cross the line as fast as we can. It's great.

funny, I thought I wrote and told you that I liked your pictures, especially the fire one and the ones from the RAce...but I must have just thought I wrote.  So now...problem solved! :)

I will always remember the baby birds as they were: with those ugly, bulgey eyes and begging, gaping beaks :o(

Is anybody running the Pig this year? I'm going Sunday to see my friend Audrey run, and will be looking for people to cheer on!
